Episode 30 - Big Band Drumming Part 1

We're going there, big band drumming! I don't think there is anything more challenging musically than being a drummer in a big band. This is the first episode in what will be many of tips and techniques that should help you gain the skills to be a good big band drummer. This first episode is all about working on your dynamic independence, meaning actually practicing playing your hands very strong, your hi-hat strong, and your bass drum soft. To me this is ground zero if you want to be a big band drummer. You have to get you right hand and left foot in control of your groove! And you have to get your left hand and right foot so that they can play any dynamic without changing the intensity and volume of your cymbal beat!
